Akin Community, a unique initiative of Akin Projects, empowers local artists through partnerships with communities experiencing a gap in service - collaborations that creatively change the fabric of social services and offer unique, positive change in new ways.
We aim to explore the positive impact of engaging with the creative side of life and facilitate opportunities for marginalized groups to connect, grow, and be inspired outside of the traditional learning models- specifically targeting those that are under or unemployed, retired or underactive or are affected by mental health issues.
Akin & CAMH
In partnership with The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Akin Community offers special artist-led workshops and programming initiatives focused towards Youth Addiction and Concurrent Disorders Programs. Clients often struggle to manage and cope with the stressors in their daily lives and we are committed to helping them find new coping strategies centered around using artistic expression to explore and express their emotions in positive ways.
Akin & Ronald McDonald House Charities
Akin Community has had the unique opportunity to bring the power of creativity to the children and families at Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto during difficult times. In addition to community programming, we have been thrilled to collaborate with RMHC Toronto on the annual Art of Healing Art Auction, pairing artists with families staying at the house to create unique artworks which are then auctioned with all proceeds going back to the charity.
Interested in partnering with us?
Akin Community is always thrilled to take on new collaborations and explore ways that the arts can have a positive impact on organizations, groups and communities across the city. No idea or need is too great or too small. Let’s meet! Kindly email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
