Come ready with questions!

Learn more about your rights as an artist and some of the resources that exist to help you ensure that you are being treated fairly and professionally – i.e. that you are getting paid, and that you and your work are respected.

CARFAC Ontario Executive Director Sally Lee will lead a discussion which, depending on questions and issues brought up by those in attendance, could cover a wide range of topics, including artist fees, royalties, copyright, licensing, moral rights, contract negotiation, pricing, donating work and more.

'Exposure' won't pay your rent or put food in the fridge.

Sally Lee has worked in the local arts community for more than 20 years and joined CARFAC Ontario as Executive Director last summer. Other organizations she has worked at include TIFF, Soulpepper, Reel Asian, and LIFT. She has also sat on the board of the Images Festival, and currently sits on the boards of CFMDC and Wavelength Music, as well as the Advocacy Committee of the Toronto Arts Council and the Advisory Board of Reel Asian. She is a TAC Cultural Leaders Lab Fellow, and following years of playing in local punk/indie bands, remains active in the independent music community as a member of the band Long Branch.
